José María Milá, new Head of Strategic Development of the MINIM Group

Last September, José María Milá joined MINIM to lead the strategic development of the different companies that comprise the group.

The group - led by the cuban origin engineer and businessman Ginés Górriz -  had a turnover of 11 million euros in 2019 and has become an European benchmark in the distribution of the best brands of contemporary design furniture, kitchens and bathrooms as well as distributors of premium materials for architecture and interior design. It has a team of more than 60 people and 5 stores between Barcelona and Madrid. The MINIM spaces (located at Via Augusta in Barcelona ​​and at Paseo de la Castellana in Madrid) distribute the best international furniture brands while the bulthaup showrooms exclusively distribute this prestigious German kitchen brand (at Johann Sebastian Bach street in Barcelona and at Claudio Coello in Madrid). MINIM also distributes the best material firms for interior architecture through the MAT showroom-boutique (in Via Augusta, Barcelona).

From his new position, José Mª Milá will help develop growth strategies for the group and actions to strengthen the links with architects, interior designers and developers. In addition, it will coordinate the development of the different stores and will provide training and internal coaching support to the interior designers of the group to help them in their role of advising end customers.

 

José Mª Milá, Professional Career

Milá has vast experience in the sector. The last 27 years he has been linked to Santa & Cole - lighting and furniture editors - where he began his career as a product publisher for the urban division and came to occupy the positions of vice president and CEO. He was previously linked to the DAE company, which he co-founded. Currently, he is vice-president of Fundació EINA's Board and a member of the FAD Board. Between 2014 and 2018 he chaired the RED association (Meeting of Design Companies). José Mª Milá studied Industrial Design at the Center Universitari de Disseny i Art EINA and, in addition to having completed Senior Business Management at ESADE, he studied Law at the University of Barcelona.

 

MINIM group, more than 18 years betting on contemporary design

The MINIM group specializes in the development of projects for furnishing, kitchens and bathrooms, both for private clients and collaborating with professionals in the sector (architects, interior designers, developers...). From its stores in Barcelona and Madrid, the group showrooms offer a careful selection of contemporary design furniture and materials from top brands that stand out for their formal and aesthetic quality. Firms of international prestige such as bulthaup, B&B Italia, Minotti, Paola Lenti, Cassina, e15, Fritz Hansen, House of Finn Juhl, Living Divani, Maxalto, Porro, USM, Zanotta, Walter Knoll, Davide Groppi, Flos, Louis Poulsen, Agape , Antonio Lupi, Florim or Mutina, to name just a few.

The group has five showroom-stores, three of them in Barcelona and two in Madrid. MINIM Barcelona - the group's first store - was opened in 2002 on Barcelona's Avenida Diagonal with the aim of offering the city the best selection of contemporary design furniture and lighting. In 2011, the group expanded its presence in the sector with bulthaup Barcelona, ​​the showroom of the German kitchen company, a leader in its sector. In 2013, MINIM moved to a 1000 m2 commercial premise located on the Via Augusta in Barcelona where it continued to carry out its strong commitment to contemporary design, consolidating itself as a benchmark in the sector. Five years later, in 2018, the group made the leap to Madrid with the opening of the bulthaup claudio coello kitchen showroom. In 2019, the group consolidates its growth with the opening of MINIM Madrid, on the centrally-located Paseo de la Castellana, and MAT Barcelona, ​​specialized in bathrooms and premium materials for architecture and interior design.
